Dear Sister Tantra-zawadi,
I was able to purchase your book. I really wanted you to know how much the words within it touched my heart and my life. I couldn’t put the thing down… from poem to poem, I was (still am) moved and each piece brought about a different level of emotion for me. I am especially drawn to “Girl” and found myself reading and reliving the words over and again. Such a reflective, penetrating and deeply relevant piece of work. Job well done, sister!
Peace, Love and Blessings,
Vonice Berry

TANTRA-ZAWADI: A RAY OF HOPE ILLUMINATING THE DARKNESS
KINETICALLY CHARGED LAMPS POWER POSITIVE CHANGE
FOR GIRLS IN ZIMBABWE
NEW YORK, NY (JUNE 11, 2010) — Tantra-zawadi, spoken word performance poet author, filmmaker and girls rights activist, recently donated lamps to girls in remote rural areas in Zimbabwe.
Many girls, unable to purchase candles, have resorted to using firewood for light. The lamps, which are kinetically charged, arrived at a crucial moment as classes of girls desperately need to read in preparation for final exams.
“It is a blessing to give as I have been given and to bring gifts of light,” said Tantra-zawadi. Driven by the desire to make a positive change in the lives of girls throughout the world, Tantra’s gift illuminates the darkness, enabling girls to study long after sunset and in the process, opening a path to a brighter future for themselves and others.
